Exploring Valley Forge

The next few groups of pictures were all taken in Valley Forge. I had three and a half hours between two of the classes I taught at the show, and the convention was literally across the street from the park. I was so thrilled to be able to go see it. If you have the chance to go on the Encampment Tour in the park, I really recommend buying the CD guide in the visitor's center. It explains what all of the sights are, and provides a wealth of information, but since it is a self-guided tour you can stop anytime you want to for as long as you want.

These first photos are of the replicated soldier cabins. Some were actually built into the ground. There were thousands of these cabins over the fields during the encampment. The photos make them look a LOT bigger than they were. They were very small, with room for the bunks and the fireplace, but nothing else.
